The first edition of this superb, two-volume atlas on surgery of the biliary tract, pancreas and liver was published nearly 20 years ago. Dr. Cameron has revisited and updated this classic work to include laparoscopic techniques and to demonstrate the current status of gastrointestinal surgical procedures. Written for the experienced surgeon, this two-volume work is beautifully illustrated with anatomical watercolor paintings by co-author Corinne Sandone that elevate the work to a level not seen in other atlases. The goal of this volume is to present the alimentary tract procedures performed and in some instances initiated at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in such a fashion that other alimentary tract surgeons can learn these techniques and perform them successfully. KEY FEATURES Includes operative procedures on the gall bladder and biliary tract, liver (including shunts), pancreas, spleen, and the esophagus. Both open and laparoscopic approaches are described for many of the procedures. The artwork provides clarity that a camera cannot capture, yet maintains the realism of the perioperative field. Illustrations depict views that cannot be photographed: conceptual images, cut-away views, and distillations of visual information not easily observed in the operating room. John L. Cameron is the The Alfred Blalock Distinguished Service Professor of the Department of Surgery, The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Baltimore, Maryland. He has operated upon more patients with pancreatic cancer, and done more Whipple resections than any other surgeon in the world. He has been a leader in Alimentary Tract Surgery for many years. National leadership positions held include being President of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, President of the Southern Surgical Association, President of the Society of Clinical Surgery, President of the Society of Surgical Chairman, President of the Halsted Society, and President of the American Surgical Association. Corinne Sandone, Director of the graduate program in Medical and Biological Illustrations since 2013, specializes in surgical illustration and has used watercolor to create several large, color surgical atlases. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine. She is a board-certified medical illustrator (CMI).

Book condition
An important factor of a second-hand book is the condition of the book. The buyer may not be surprised. Always mention damages or defects. We use a system with 3 stars:
The book is acceptable: you have used it to study and made notes and markings – but everything is still readable. The cover and pages are in good condition.
The book still looks good: there are a few notes in it and you marked it. There are hardly any signs of use on the cover and pages
The book is (almost) new: you have not written or marked in it. There are no signs of use on the cover and pages
