Dr. Rubin, MD, FACS, FRCS, is a Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon at The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital Division of The Royal Free NHS Trust, where he is the Lead Clinician of the Voice Disorders Unit as well as its Clinical Director. He is also a Consultant ENT Surgeon at St. Bartholomews Hospital, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London. Robert T. Sataloff, MD, DMA, FACS is Professor and Chairman, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Academic Specialties, Drexel University College of Medicine. He is also Adjunct Professor in the departments of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University; and on the faculty of the Academy of Vocal Arts. Dr. Sataloff is also a professional singer and singing teacher, and he served as Conductor of the Thomas Jefferson University Choir over a period of nearly four decades. He holds an undergraduate degree from Haverford College in Music Theory and Composition, graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance from Combs College of Music; and he completed his Residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Sataloff is Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Voice Foundation and of the American Institute for Voice and Ear Research. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Graduate Hospital; President of the American Laryngological Association, the International Association of Phonosurgery, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery; and in numerous other leadership positions. Dr. Sataloff is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Voice, Editor-in-Chief of Ear, Nose and Throat Journal, Associate Editor of the Journal of Singing, and on the editorial boards of numerous otolaryngology journals. He has written over 1,000 publications, including 42 books. His medical practice is limited to care of the professional voice and to otology/neurotology/skull base surgery. Dr. Korovin has a private practice in otolaryngology, with a subspecialty in voice in New York City. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at New York University School of Medicine and serves as a consultant for Ames Vocal Dynamics Laboratory at Lenox Hill Hospital. She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member for the Masters of Fine Arts Program at the New School of Social Research. Dr. Korovin serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Voice and on the Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board of the Voice Foundation.

"Ten years after the third edition, this has been expanded to 58 chapters and it weighs a ton. I always judge the quality of updating by checking the chapter references' year of publication. There is a great little chapter on Research in Laryngology which stands this test well. The final chapter on Telemedicine speaks for itself as topical! There are high quality illustrations throughout, as you would expect from laryngology practice. Jean Abitbol's chapter on 3D CT of the larynx shows the most remarkable colour images; a chapter on Videography and Photography of the larynx makes me wonder at what we used to achieve with 35 mm slide film, but also how things move on. Clearly UK surgeons can take the odd snap, to judge by the work of Sandhu and Howard on Laryngotracheal Stenosis . Look at their figure 48-2 as the cleverest way to size a stenosed larynx (something no human eye can possibly do, unaided. Remember the square of the radius rule, for cross sectional area.)
