The Survival Guide to Bone and Joint Pathology focuses on the most commonly identified lesions in bone and joint pathology. The book begins with an emphasis on non-neoplastic lesions of bone and joints the second half of the book focuses on neoplastic lesions. Much of this volume focuses on morphology, both gross and microscopic, as that is enough to diagnose many lesions of the bones and joints. These processes encompass some of the more difficult lesions in diagnostic surgical pathology.
There is focus on epidemiology, as knowledge of the patient allows for proper differential diagnostic considerations. There is also a significant radiology component, as an understanding of imaging findings is essential to the proper diagnosis of these lesions, particularly within bone. There is also some discussion of molecular studies and immunohistochemistry where it is relevant. This volume is concise and contains numerous radiologic, gross, and histologic images. It is intended to be a useful volume for those seeking a foundation in bone and joint pathology as well as those who need a quick reference for commonly encountered diseases. It is a useful addition to the libraries of both trainees and practicing pathologists.
