The Renal Drug Handbook

This invaluable guide, endorsed by the UKMi and reflecting the extensive experience of the UK Renal Pharmacy Group, features drug monographs guiding physicians in how to prescribe, prepare, and administer drugs to patients with different levels of kidney function and when undergoing renal replacement therapy. It has been fully updated for this fifth edition to include up to 100 additional drugs, while maintaining the clear structure and format that is easy to use and simple to follow in the busy clinical setting. It continues to offer support and guidance to health care professionals enabling them to prescribe medications to their renal patients appropriately and safely.

 

Caroline Ashley is the Lead Specialist Pharmacist for Renal Services at the University College London Centre for Nephrology and Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital. She has over 25 years' experience, with major interests in transplantation and auto-immune renal disease. Caroline was involved in the development of the Renal National Service Framework, and the NICE Guidelines on Immunosuppression in Renal Transplantation, Renal Anaemia and Acute Kidney Injury. She is the co-editor of The Renal Drug Handbook, The Renal Drug Database and The Introduction to Renal Therapeutics and sits on the editorial board of the British Journal of Renal Medicine. She was Chair of the Uk Renal Pharmacy Group from 1996 to 2016, and was made Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, UCL School of Pharmacy in 2011.
Aileen Dunleavy is the Senior Specialist Pharmacist for Renal Services at the University Hospital Crosshouse, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, with over 20 years of renal pharmacy experience. Her major areas of interest are dialysis, anaemia and CKD. She became an independent prescriber in 2008. She is the co-editor of The Renal Drug Handbook and The Renal Drug Database and has contributed to the Introduction to Renal Therapeutics, Drugs in Use and Adverse Drug Reactions. She has been a committee member of the UK Renal Pharmacy Group for 20 years.
